Box Score Box ScoreUpdated Season StatsDespite one of their most dominant offensive performances in recent memory that saw them possess the ball for the ball for the majority of both halves, the Louisiana College Lady Wildcats fell to future ASC foe McMurry University 2-1 on Monday night in Pineville in the final home game of the season for
Bruce Deaton's club.
The Lady Cats dominated seemingly every offensive category during the match, as they got off a season high 33 shots, including a season-high 18 shots on goal.
LC appeared to have the match well in control when senior
Erin Biggs, playing in her final home game as a Lady Wildcat, drilled the ball into the top of the net early in the second half off of a corner kick from
Jayme Harmon and pass from
Zully Maldonado to give LC Â a 1-0 lead.
McMurry would show no quit on this night, however, as they were able to tie the match at 1-1 with 11 minutes remaining in regulation on a goal by Kristen Grant where she was able to break away from LC's defense and rifle a shot from 15 yards out to even things up.
Grant would strike again five minutes later, as she sent in the game-winning goal off of a cross from Holiday Williams on a beautiful set-up to give her team the win.
The Lady Cats were able to play solid offensively throughout the match despite the loss, as they got 21 shots off in the first half and another 12 in the second half, giving them some much-needed confidence going into the biggest weekend of their season starting on Friday.
LC (2-13 overall, 1-6 in ASC play) are still in play for one of the final ASC Tournament slots, but must win both of their matches on the road this weekend in order to stay alive.
The all-important road trip will begin on Friday at 1:00 p.m. against traditional ASC power Hardin-Simmons and will continue on Saturday afternoon in Brownwood, TX against Howard Payne in a match that is also set to begin at 1:00 p.m.Â
