The Louisiana College men's basketball team remained undefeated at home in the H.O. West Fieldhouse with an exciting 84-77 win over Mississippi College on Monday night.

In a back-and-forth battle that saw the lead switched 12 times, the Wildcats were able to gain a lead with just over 12 minutes left in the second half and never looked back, seizing the momentum in the final 10 minutes to take the seven point win.

With MC leading 56-55 at the 12:39 mark of the second half, LC sophomore forward AJ Gaines, Jr. pulled down an offensive rebound off of a missed
Kevin Cottonham three-pointer. Gaines then passed the ball out to fellow sophomore
Kevin Lewis, who nailed a three-pointer to give LC the two-point lead.

The Wildcats would not lose that lead the rest of the game.

Gaines would lead LC on the night with 26 points to go with five rebounds, four assists, four blocks, and two steals. Cottonham would finish with 19 points and six assists, Lewis with 15 points and 4 assists, while freshman
Steve Evans had another double-double, his second straight, finishing with 11 points 10 rebounds.

MC was led by forward Lakin Ford, who scored 24 points, grabbed six rebounds, and dished out five assists.

The Wildcats (8-4 overall, 8-2 in ASC play) remain in second place in the ASC standings behind UT-Dallas. LC will travel to Clarksville, AR on Thursday for an ASC matchup against The Ozarks in a game scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.Â
