Lady Cats unable to overcome early deficit in 1-0 loss to Centenary

Box Score
For the second consecutive game, the Louisiana College Lady Wildcats found themselves on the wrong end of a one-goal decision, falling 1-0 to Centenary College in an extremely hard fought battle on Thursday night at Wildcat Field.

A first half goal in the seventh minute by Centenary's Amanda Atwell as the difference in the match, as she slipped a shot past LC keeper Danielle Paulson to put the Lady Wildcats in an early 1-0 hole.

The Lady 'Cats looked very solid on offense in the first half despite being held scoreless, as they were able to get off 10 shots before halftime, the majority of those being very nice looks at potential game-tying goals.

However, Centenary's defense was able to do just enough to keep the Lady Wildcats scoreless. The biggest difference seemed to be that LC could not capitalize on their 13 corner kicks, and had just two shots on target compared to five for their cross-state rivals.

The loss, which dropped LC's season record to 0-3, does not diminish how much further along the Lady Wildcats seem to be at this point from a season before, particularly from an offensive and conditioning standpoint.

Bruce Deaton's squad will not have much time to rest, as they will again play at home on Saturday against Southwestern Assemblies of God, a team that LC was able to defeat 2-0 a season ago.

That game will take place at noon at Wildcat Field with the men's game coming immediately after.
