Box Score

Still searching for their first signature win of the 2013 season, the LC Lady Wildcats dropped their ASC opener 2-1 to Concordia University on Friday night in Austin, TX.

The Tornados took an early lead in the 35th minute when Meagan Brown was able to find the back of the net after she lined a shot from inside the box to the far post.

Concordia was the able to build their lead to 2-0 in the second half when Jeni Morales scored her first career goal off of a cross from Chastity Carrillo. It was Carrillo second assist of the game.

The Lady Wildcats would make things interesting later in the game, however, as Pam Usry scored on a header for her second goal of the season off of an assist from Alex Corne to draw LC closer at 2-1. The Lady Cats would have several chances to tie the match late, including a very close call by Jayme Harmon, who fired a shot with two minutes remaining that was saved by Concordia goalie Megan Frontiera.

While the result of the match was not what the Lady Cats were looking for, the offense once again showed signs of the vast improvement from a season ago, as they out shot Concordia 14-10 with 9 shots on goal to 5 for the Tornados.

The loss dropped LC's season record to 2-6, 0-1 in ASC play. The Lady Cats will make the drive to Belton, TX for a Saturday afternoon matchup against Mary Hardin-Baylor, which is set to begin at 2 p.m.
