Despite taking an early lead, The Louisiana College Wildcats dropped their third consecutive match on Wednesday night, this one coming by way of a 2-1 decision to the Millsaps Majors.
Â
The Wildcats took just over six minutes to grab control of the match, as
Caio Sousa was able to come up with a finish off of a corner kick by Raffi Ferriera to take a 1-0 lead.
Â
LC would then have multiple chances to extend their lead, as they possessed the ball for a large majority of the first half, getting 12 of their 16 total shots in the contest off in the first 45 minutes.
Â
That lead would last until the 66
th minute in the second half when Millsaps' Conor Hagan rifled a shot that deflected off of LC keeper
Travis Alexander's hand despite a diving effort to stop the shot. The Majors would then grab the lead for good 13 minutes later when Matt Crooker capped off the comeback, scoring off of a throw-in from Taylor Hayes.
Â
The Wildcats were also hampered by eight offside calls, which erased more than a few solid looks at goals which could have helped them put the match away.
Â
The game marked the final contest of the Wildcats' five-game home stand, as LC will now play their first road game since August 31 when they defeated Piedmont College 1-0. The Wildcats travel to Conway, AR to take on Hendrix College at 6 p.m. on Saturday night in their final non-conference matchup of the season.Â
