Second half surge lifts Lady Wildcats to 3-0 win over Wiley College

Box Score
Despite a dominant first half that saw Louisiana College possess the ball for nearly the entire first 45 minutes,  the Lady Wildcats found themselves locked up in a scoreless game at halftime.

However, an unbelievable five minute stretch early in the second half would change that, as LC was able to put home three goals in that time frame to give the Lady Cats a 3-0 win over NAIA opponent Wiley College.

The dominance displayed by LC in the first half was not indicative of the 0-0 halftime score, as Bruce Deaton's club did not allow a single shot to Wiley College in the first frame. But when Taylor Bergeron was able to beat Wiley keeper Gabriela Mercado for her fourth goal of the season at the 51-minute mark in the second half off an assist from Erin Biggs, the Lady Cats were able to run away with the remainder of the contest.

Less than three minutes after Bergeron broke the scoreless tie, Biggs would score a goal of her own, finding the back of the net after a corner kick was deflected and the junior from Ponchatoula, LA was able to finish in a crowd of Wiley defenders.

Bergeron would strike again less than two minutes later at the 56-minute mark, as she was able to chase down the ball after a turnover and drive home her fifth goal of the season to putting the finishing touch on an impressive 3-0 win.

It was the second consecutive game that Bergeron has scored two goals in, and also the second consecutive win for the Lady Wildcats, who now stand at 2-3 on the season. They will face Belhaven on Saturday at 6 p.m., looking for their third consecutive victory.
