The Louisiana College men's soccer team closed out their opening weekend of regular season play with a sound 1-0 victory over Piedmont College on Saturday afternoon in Rome, GA.
Â
The Wildcats were dominant in virtually every aspect on their way to the win, as
Phillip Borde's touch finish off a nice assist from
Fellipe Albuquerque at the 22 minute mark of the first half was all LC needed to notch their first victory of the season.
Â
"Overall, I thought we looked good," said head coach
Prince Borde, "it was very hot and the conditions were rough, so we had some trouble adjusting early, but we closed out with a very nice second half."
Â
LC finished the match with 17 shots (7 shots on target) compared to just 5 shots (1 shot on target) for the Lions. Freshman goal keeper
Cameron Vauclin picked up the win as well as his first career shutout.
Â
The Wildcats, now 1-1 on the season, will now move on to face former American Southwest Conference rival Centenary on Thursday, September 5 in their home opener at Wildcat Field. That game will begin at 7 p.m.Â
