A 22-point halftime deficit against one of the nation's most lethal scoring teams was too much to overcome for the Louisiana College men's basketball team, as the Wildcats fell to the Northwestern State Demons 116-76 on Saturday afternoon in Natchitoches, LA.
In the first matchup of the two teams since 1999, the Demons were able to out-man the Wildcats in rebounds (46-38), steals (19-9), blocks (6-3), points in the paint (78-36), field goal percentage (60% - 39%) and turned the ball over 19 times compared to 29 for LC.
LC sophomore forward
Anthony Gaines, Jr. once again led the Wildcats in scoring with 15 points and nine rebounds.
Doc Welch (12 points, four steals) and
Kevin Cottonham (10 points, three assists) also reached double figures for the Wildcats.
The Demons were led by Brison White's career-high 23 points and Dequan Hicks' 21 points and 11 rebounds.
The Wildcats (3-2 overall, 3-0 in ASC play) will take on Mary Hardin-Baylor at home in the H.O. West Fieldhouse on December 19
th. That game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
