Box Score
A nine-minute stretch in the second half was the turning point in an otherwise hard fought battle Saturday afternoon, as the Louisiana College Lady Wildcats fell to UT-Tyler 6-0 at Wildcat Field.
Â
Trailing 2-0 in the 73
rd minute of the second half, the Lady Wildcats were all of a sudden unable to find an answer for UT-Tyler's offensive attack, as the Patriots would go on to score four goals, two of which came from Nikki Gordon, over the next nine minutes.
Â
Gordon scored her first goal after she put back a deflection to make it 3-0. April Goodman was then involved on the next two goals, assisting Chestly Strother and Gordon on the following two scoring plays to put UT-Tyler ahead 5-0.
Â
Hayley Coggin's goal in 82
nd minute, where she was able to hook in a corner kick for a score, was the icing on the cake for the Lady Cats' unfortunate turn of events.
Â
UT-Tyler (6-2 on the season), who came into the match as one of the ASC's top teams, was able to hold LC's recently upstart offensive attack to a minimum, allowing just one corner kick, three total shots, and one shot on goal.
Â
LC's best look at a score came in the 16
th minute when
Taylor Bergeron was able to find the back of the net, which would have given LC an early 1-0 lead, but a controversial offsides call took the goal off the board.
Â
LC, now 3-8 on the year and 1-3 in conference, will get a six-day break before hitting the road to take on one of the nation's top programs in Hardin-Simmons at 1 p.m. on Friday in Abilene, TX.Â
