LC senior Lydia Magallanes got the start in her final home match as an LC Lady Wildcat

Lady Wildcats drop home finale to Ozarks 2-0

10/25/2013 10:31:00 PM

Box Score
A first minute goal from The University of the Ozarks was too much for the Lady Wildcats of Louisiana College to overcome in a 2-0 win for the Eagles on senior day for the Lady Cats.

In what seemed to catch everyone in attendance off guard, the Eagles' Victoria Romero slipped past LC's defense and flicked in a shot just out of the reach of LC keeper Miranda Williams after only 36 seconds had ticked off the clock to give Ozarks a 1-0 lead.

The Eagles would add insult to injury later on in the match when an errant shot by Ozarks was deflected off of the foot of LC's Anna Champagne and managed to sneak into the corner of the net to give the Eagles a 2-0 advantage, which would end up being the final score.

In what was almost a mirror image of the stat sheet from Thursday night's matchup against UT-Dallas, the Lady Cats seemingly dominated in every major category as LC outshot Ozarks 17-5, had a 6-5 advantage in shots on goal, and attempted five corner kicks while the Eagles were blanked in that category.

However, the two unlikely goals were enough to give Ozarks the win and drop LC's season record to 4-11-1 overall with a 2-6-1 mark in ASC play.

The contest was the final home match for LC seniors Iris Tuttle, Jackie Martinez, Ashlee Dubra, and Lydia Magallanes, all of whom were penciled into the starting lineup in their home farewell.

LC's final match of the season will take place next Saturday in Clinton, MS against Mississippi College.
