In one of the finest defensive efforts of the Bruce Deaton-era at Louisiana College, the LC Lady Wildcats took UT-Dallas to a 0-0 draw after two overtime periods on Thursday night at Wildcat Field.

Despite being outshot 21-1, and 11-0 in shots on goals, the Lady Cats were able to spoil numerous scoring opportunities for the Comets to come away with the 0-0 final.

After a scoreless first half, LC broke through with the first scoring opportunity of the second half, but Taylor Bergeron's shot in the 48th minute sailed wide, the match would remain in a 0-0 deadlock.

The Comets saw their best chance at taking the lead spoiled when Miranda Williams saved a shot from point blank range from Gisselle Miller. A deflected header shot from UTD's Eliza Carey immediately followed, but the shot was blocked, and the Lady Cats once again were able to hold off UTD's offensive attack.

LC's defense would then step their game up in overtime, as the Comets were denied any decent looks at goals until the final two minutes, but Williams, who has continued to show marked improvement between the posts over the course of the season, denied Jeri Mills twice on potential game-winning goals.

Williams finished with 11 saves for the match to secure the third shutout of the season for LC, and for the Lady Cats, the draw comes as a huge momentum boost going into their final two matches of the season.

Perhaps most impressive for LC was that they were able to overcome key injuries to both Ashlee Dubra and Brandi Martin during the match.

First up for LC is a senior day matchup against The Ozarks on Friday at Wildcat Field where Lydia Magallanes, Iris Tuttle, Jackie Martinez, and Ashlee Dubra will be playing in their final home matches for the Lady Wildcats.

Magallanes, Tuttle, and Martinez, who came to LC during Deaton's first season as head coach in 2010, are all four-year members of the squad while Dubra has spent the last two seasons in Pineville after transferring from Hinds Community College in Clinton, MS.

The Lady Cats will then travel to Mississippi Saturday, November 2nd for their season finale against Mississippi College in Clinton, MS in a match that could decide LC's (4-10-1 overall, 2-5-1 in ASC) postseason fate.
