Box Score
The Louisiana College Wildcats would waste no time in getting on the board in Saturday's 3-1 over Howard Payne, taking down the Yellow Jackets for their fourth conference win of the season and tying the school record for single-season victories that they set just one season ago.
LC freshman
Greg McDoom broke the scoreless tie in the second minute of the match with a shot from the box off an assist from
Fellipe Albuquerque. It was the first shot of the match and was the freshman's third goal of the season.
Caio Sousa would then put the Wildcats up 2-0 with an unassisted goal, also from inside the box, in the 24
th minute of the first half.
Albuquerque would then add a goal of his own in the 68
th minute of the second half off of a penalty kick to make the score 3-0. It was Albuquerque's fifth of the season, tying him with Sousa and freshman
Renato Neves for the team-lead.
Shay Pate of HPU would put home a goal in the 76
th minute, but it was not enough to spark a comeback, as the Wildcats would take the road match by a final 3-1 tally.
Now 7-7 on the season, LC has tied the 2012 Wildcats for the school record for most single season wins. LC also moves to 4-2 in ASC play, placing them fourth in the standings behind Mississippi College (3-0-2 in ASC), Texas-Dallas (3-0-2), and Hardin-Simmons (2-0-4).
LC will have a chance to further their case for postseason against rival East Texas Baptist on Thursday in Marshall, TX at 7 PM.
