Longtime American Southwest Conference power Hardin-Simmons, ranked #11 in the country coming into the match, was able to drive home three early goals against Louisiana College on Friday afternoon, downing the Lady Wildcats 7-0 in an ASC road matchup in Abilene, TX.
Â
Julianne Kucera, Courtney Cramer, and Hannah Perkins were all able to find the back of the net in the first eight minutes of Friday's contest to give the Cowgirls a 3-0 lead.
Â
Kucera would strike again in the 21
st minute, and goals by Devon Howard and Jordan Lara would give HSU a comfortable 6-0 lead at the half.
Â
The Lady Cats defense would play a much more effective second half, as the Cowgirls went over 50 minutes before their next goal in the 89
th minute by Sydney Pitzer-Cook to bring the match to its final score of 7-0.
Â
LC was unable to get much offensive momentum going against the Cowgirls, as they were outshot 29-2 on goal and did not attempt a corner kick during the match while HSU registered 24.
Â
Now 3-9 on the season and 1-4 in conference play, the Lady Wildcats will have a quick turnaround before  taking on Howard Payne at 1 p.m. on Saturday in Brownwood, TX.Â
