A record-tying performance from Hardin-Simmons sophomore Colyn Moore proved to be the difference in a 6-1 victory for the home-standing Cowboys over the Louisiana College Wildcats on Friday afternoon in Abilene, TX.
Â
Moore would come out hot, giving HSU a 2-0 lead with goals in the 15
th and 18
th minute.
Â
LC would show signs of life following Moore's first two scores, as senior Raffi Ferriera would put the Wildcats within a score when he snuck his free kick from just outside the box into the net to put LC within a score at 2-1.
Â
It appeared as though the match was headed to the half at 2-1, but a Tanner Coffin goal in the 45
th minute gave HSU a 3-1 lead before intermission and proved to be the momentum shifter that the Cowboys needed.
Â
Moore would continue his outstanding play in the second half, scoring two more goals in the 56
th and 61
st minute. Ewa Coleman would also score in the 58
th minute to give HSU the 6-1 win.
Â
Moore's four goals tied a single-game school record for the Cowboys.
Â
The Wildcats fall to 6-7 on the season and 3-2 in ASC play. They will play Howard Payne at 3 p.m. on Saturday in Brownwood, TX.Â
