In a thrilling American Southwest Conference game that was not decided until the final seconds ticked off the clock, Louisiana College defeated Hardin-Simmons for the first time in school history 2-1 in front of an energized crowd at Wildcat Stadium Thursday night.
LC (4-2, 1-1 ASC) got it first conference win of the season in a tough fought match with the Cowboys (3-4/1-2) that saw the winning goal come from the foot of sophomore midfielder

Prince Borde. “In the end it was scrappy, but however we win, we win.”

Randy Richard had an outstanding game for the Wildcats registering 12 saves. The Wildcats won despite being outshot by the Cowboys, 23 attempts to 8.
“Randy is just athletic,” Borde said. “He gets everything in the air that other goalkeepers might not. He did an awesome job tonight.”
HSU scored first in the game. At the 18:03 mark, Matt Pitcock scored an unassisted goal to make it 1-0 Cowboys. LC would tie the game just before the end of the first half when senior midfielder
Caio Sousa scored his own unassisted goal to make it 1-1 at the intermission.
The Wildcats will return to action Saturday, Sept. 22 when they host ASC opponent Howard Payne at 1 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium.
“We have to settle down,” Borde said. “Our goal is to get to the conference tournament. We got the win tonight, but we have to focus on Howard Payne now.”
