9/13/2012 11:43:00 PM

Much like the Louisiana College men on Thursday night, the LC Lady wildcats saw an early goal from LSU-E put them in a bind in the first half.

In the 8th minute of the first half, Brooke Martin banged home a goal for the Lady Pilots off an assist from Heather McCutchen for put LC in an early 1-0 hole. LSU-S would another another goal in the 42nd minute of the first half from Kelsey Ellender, assisted by Kelly Boss.

However, with LC looking as if they would go into the half down by two scores, Alex Corne found the back of the net with a goal off an assist from Kelly Clancey. The goal was scored with just 19 seconds remaining in the first half and gave a LC a new life going into the break.

That momentum seemed to carry over at halftime, as LC was able to control the ball for the majority of the first 10 minutes of the second half, as the Lady Wildcats were able to get off five early shots.

But when Sandra Quintero was able to score in the 61st minute, the Lady Wildcats saw their chances of winning their fourth match of the season diminish.

Now sitting at 0-2 on the year at home, and 3-1 during away games, Bruce Deaton pondered comically after the game whether he has found the solution to LC's recent skid.

"I think next Thursday, I'm going to get the girls on the bus, drive 20 minutes down the road, then drive back to campus as if it were a road game," Deaton said tongue-in-cheek following the match Thursday night.

LC's opponent on said Thursday will be perrenial American Southwest Conference powerhouse Hardin-Simmons, a team the Lady Wildcats have certainly had circled on their schedule all offseason. That match will take place at 5 p.m. on Thursday September 20 at Wildcat Field.
