PINEVILLE, La. – Wednesday, in what has become a tradition at Louisiana College, the Lady Cats softball team had a special ceremony prior to their departure for the NCAA Division III Regional in Tyler, Texas.

Louisiana College President Dr. Joe Aguillard, Executive Vice President Dr. Tim Johnson and Louisiana College Registrar Dr. Brad Duffy visited Coca-Cola Lady Wildcats field and performed a mini-graduation ceremony in which senior third baseman Devan Greene (Kaplan, La./Kaplan HS) had the full honors and privileges of her degree, and B.S. in Biology, conferred upon her.

Due to LC's participation in this week's regional, Greene will be forced to miss Louisiana College's Saturday Spring Convocation. Thus, for the third time in four years, the LC administration staged a special graduation for an LC softball player.

Greene and the Lady Cats will begin play in the double-elimination, seven-team regional Friday at 11 a.m. with a game against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps of California.

Links to live stats, live video and recaps of all tournament games will be posted at http://www.uttylerpatriots.com/ncaa/.

Greene, a four-year starter, has had quite the career both on the field and off.  A multiple-time all-conference and academic all-conference performer, Greene recently became only the third athlete in school history to earn a spot on the Capitol One Academic All-District team.

She's already been accepted into the LSU-Shreveport Health Science Center Physical Therapy graduate program and will begin her studies at that school in less than two weeks.
