PINEVILLE, La. – In its final home play date for 2012, the Louisiana College softball team sent its seniors out in style sweeping a doubleheader from rival East Texas Baptist 10-2 and 9-3.

The wins vaulted LC (24-8, 13-7 American Southwest Conference East) into second place in their division with four games to play. ETBU (21-13, 12-8 ASC East) fell to third in the division.

LC trailed in both games, 2-0 in the first and 3-0 in the second before scoring 10 and nine unanswered runs respectively.

In the first contest, ETBU went up 2-0 in the first inning with a two-run homerun by Alyssa Romero.

LC's Daniele Wilson (Destrehan, La./Archbishop Chappelle) countered with a two-run homerun of her own in the bottom of the first and the Lady Cats added five runs in the second, with a solo homerun by freshman Laura Gulotta-Parrish serving as the spark.

The Lady Cats eventually won the game on the mercy rule in the sixth on a two-RBI double by catcher Meagan Pearson.

In the late game, the ETBU scored three in the third but a triple by senior third baseman Devan Greene(Kaplan, La./Kaplan HS) sparked a five-run fourth and a triple by Gulotta-Parrish led to a three-run fifth for LC.

Junior Leslie Eastham (Baton Rouge, La./Woodlawn HS) got the win in the first game and improved to 7-2 after pitching a complete game and striking out three. Sophomore Rudi Aycock (Olla, La./LaSalle HS)  picked up the win in game two and improved to 5-2 after pitching five innings in relief of Eastham and striking out one.

Meggie Burkett (West Monroe, La./West Ouachita HS), Stephanie Jaeger (Haughton, La./Haughton HS), Greene, Wilson and Gulotta-Parrish, LC's five batters, were solid throughout.

Burkett went a combined 5-for-8 with an RBI and two runs scored, Jaeger 2-for-7 with two runs scored, Greene 2-for-7 with four runs scored and two RBI, Wilson 6-for-8 with five RBI and four runs scored and Gulotta-Parrish 3-for-6 with two RBI and a run scored.

Senior outfielder Cassie DeCoste (Pineville, La./Pineville HS), who with Greene made up the entirety of the Lady Cats' senior class, finished with a run scored and an RBI.

LC returns to action Friday and Saturday in Richardson, Texas, with back-to-back doubleheaders against Texas Dallas.
