TYLER, Texas – It was a tough road trip for the Louisiana College softball team Wednesday. The Lady Cats were swept by No. 8 Texas-Tyler, 4-3 and 10-3.
Louisiana College (21-7, 10-2 American Southwest Conference East) managed just nine combined hits on the day while Texas-Tyler (27-5, 14-2 ASC East) was good for 21.
The Lady Cats lost Game 1 in walk-off fashion after playing the Patriots to a 3-3 tie heading into the bottom of the seventh. UTT senior Katelyn Thomason, however, provided an RBI single to end the game.
In the second game, LC never truly found its legs offensively save a three-run fourth. Defensively, the Lady Cats were done in by a five-run fifth and two-run sixth by UTT.
Junior shortstop
Daniele Wilson (Destrehan, La./Archbishop Chappelle) was LC's top offensive performer, going a combined 1-fof-4 with a run scored and an RBI.
Laura Gulotta-Parrish (Plaquemine, La./St. Joseph's Academy), who played only in Game 2, went 1-for-3 with a run scored and a pair of RBI.
Leslie Eastham (Baton Rouge, La./Woodlawn HS) and
Rudi Aycock (Olla, La./LaSalle HS) were the losing pitchers of the day. Heather Abshire was the winning pitcher in both contests.
LC returns to action Saturday at 3 p.m. with a doubleheader against Mississippi College .
