Softball splits fourth straight doubleheader

LONGVIEW, Texas – The Louisiana College softball team split its fourth consecutive American Southwest East Division doubleheader here Saturday, defeating LeTourneau 5-2 in the early game before losing 5-4 in nine innings the late contest.

Junior shortstop Daniele Wilson (Destrehan, La./Archbishop Chappelle) had a monster day for the Lady Cats (19-5, 10-4 ASC East) going a combined 4-for-7 with six RBI, a homerun and a run scored.

In the first game, junior Leslie Eastham (Baton Rouge, La./ followed her Friday night three-hitter versus rival East Texas Baptist with a four-hit showing against the YellowJackets (14-14, 4-10 ASC EAST). It was a victory that brought Eastham's season win-loss record to 6-1.

Taylor Thibodeaux, who lasted just 1 1/3 inning, took the loss for LeTourneau.

In the late game, LC came from down 2-1 to take a lead in the top sixth but was forced into extra innings after allowing a run in the bottom of the inning.

LeTourneau eventually won the game on an unearned run scored by Jourdan Glover.

Rudi Aycock (Olla, La./LaSalle HS) took the loss and fell to 4-1 after pitching a complete game and allowing seven hits.

Kelli Parton was the winning pitcher for the YellowJackets. She pitch a complete game and allowed nine hits.

LC returns to action Tuesday with a visit to Millsaps in Jackson, Miss., for a nonconference doubleheader.
