MARSHALL, Texas – For the third consecutive time, the Louisiana College softball team split an American Southwest Conference East Division game with a rival. Six days after splitting with nationally-ranked Texas-Tyler and three days after splitting with Mississippi College, the Lady Cats split with East Texas Baptist.
Louisiana College (18-4, 9-3 ASC East) won the first contest 2-1 then fell to ETBU (14-8. 7-3 ASC East) by a score of 3-1 in the second.
In the first contest, junior
Leslie Eastham (Baton Rouge, La./Woodlawn HS), who already has recorded a no-hitter for LC, delivered a three-hit performance with three strikeouts and four walks to improve to 5-1 on the year.
The Lady Cats scored both of their runs in the fourth inning on unearned runs scored by
Cassie DeCoste (Pineville, La./Pineville HS) and
Daniele Wilson (Destrehan, La./Archbishop Chappelle HS).
DeCoste was LC's top batter with a 2-for-3 showing.
In the late game, the combination of
Jordan Waldroup (Calhoun, La./West Ouachita HS) and
Rudi Aycock (Olla, La./LaSalle HS) combined to allow just four hits but a three-hitter by Kaylee Davis proved the difference.
Waldroup (5-3) took the loss in the second game.
Stephanie Jaeger (Haughton, La./Haughton HS) was LC's top batter in the second game going 2-for-3 with an RBI.
LC returns to action Saturday at 1 p.m. with a visit to ASC East opponent LeTourneau.
