Gene Rushing's LC men's team, starting two freshmen in the lineup for the first time all season, fell to Hardin-Simmons by a final score of 73-66 on Saturday in Abilene, Tx.
HSU's bench was the key difference in the game, as they outscored LC's bench 47-20. Eric Taylor was the biggest player off the Cowboy's bench, as he went 7-13 from the field (4-7 from beyond the 3-point line) for a game high 22 points.
The Wildcats were actually able to outrebound the Cowboys 45-43 and only turned the ball over 10 times to the Cowboys' 16.
LC showed great fight despite the 7 point loss, as they trailed by 14 points with 10 minutes left in the first half and were able to come back to take a 3 point lead with just over 5 minutes left in the game.

Doc Welch once again led the Wildcats in scoring with 19 points on 7-19 shooting to go along with 5 rebounds.

Edward Atkins tied for the team lead in rebounds with 7 a piece.
The loss drops the Wildcats to 1-6 overall, 1-4 in the ASC. It was the final game in 2012 for the Wildcats, as they are off until January 3 when they will host ASC west rival Texas Lutheran in the H.O. West Fieldhouse.
