The Louisiana College men's soccer team's hopes of making their first ever American Southwest Conference tournament came to a screeching halt after a 2-1 loss to the University of the Ozarks on Saturday.
The Wildcats got off to a great start when
Caio Sousa drove home a goal in the 12
th minute of the match off an
Edwin Morales assist to give LC an early 1-0 lead.
However, that would be the only offense that the Wildcats would muster the rest of the day.
Ozarks tied the match in the 35
th minute with a Dylan Amacher goal and then took a 2-1 lead just before the half with a Dagin Douglas goal.
Both teams would remain quiet on the scoreboard during the second half, with the match ending in a 2-1 victory for the Ozarks.
With Saturday's contest being a must-win situation for the Wildcats, their aspirations for a postseason appearance were quickly taken away.
However, LC still has an opportunity with one game to play to finish out their finest season in school history on grand fashion.
At 7-7-2 on the year, the Wildcats have an opportunity, with a win against Centenary, to finish above .500 on the season for the first time in school history.
That match will take place on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Shreveport, La.
