The Louisiana College men's soccer team's playoff hopes will come down to the final day of American Southwest Conference play as they fell to UT-Dallas 4-0 on Thursday night in Richardson, Tx.
UTD lead 3-0 at the half off of goals from Michael Matthews, Travis White, and Michael Darrow.
Darrow would score another goal just over a minute into the second half, his ASC leading 18
th of the season, which tied the UTD single season school record.
LC did not have their best offensive performance of the season, as they were only able to get off four shots on the night, none of them on goal, compared to 29 shots and 17 shots on goal for the Comets.
With the loss, LC's conference record now stands at 4-5-2, which puts them in a tie for 7
th place in the ASC with Texas Lutheran. Hardin-Simmons is in 6
th place at 5-4-1. However, LC holds the tiebreaker over HSU after their thrilling 2-1 victory over the Cowboys earlier in the season in Pineville.
In order to make the ASC tournament, the Wildcats must come out with a win on Saturday against the University of the Ozarks, and hope for losses from Hardin-Simmons (who plays Mary Hardin-Baylor on Friday) and Texas Lutheran (who plays Texas-Tyler on Friday).
The Wildcats would then need a little more help from Concordia on Saturday, as they will take on Hardin-Simmons in the ASC finale with LC needing Concordia to either defeat or tie HSU.
That would put the three teams in a three-way tie for sixth place.
LC, now 7-6-2 on the season, have an opportunity to finish above .500 for the first time in program history with a 3 p.m. date against the Ozarks on Saturday.
