TYLER, Texas - Louisiana College started strong and led for most of the game but could not clinch a 75-70 victory over the Texas-Tyler Patriots until the closing seconds Thursday night.

LC made six key free throws down the stretch as the Wildcats held on for the win against a Patriot team that hit timely three-pointers repeatedly to keep the game close.

LC improved to 6-9 overall and 6-7 in ASC play. The Cats remained in third place in the ASC East. Tyler fell to 5-13 overall and 4-10 in league play.

The WIldcats had one of their best shooting nights of the year, connecting on 11-of-29 three-pointers.

Senior wing Jarrod Jackson broke out of a shooting slump to score 23 points to lead all scorers.

Junior wing Danny Sumner had his best night of the season, scoring 20 points off the bench.

Senior post Korey Salmon finished with 14 and eight rebounds and junior post Derrick Gardner with 10 points, seven rebounds and three blocks.

Texas-Tyler was led by Darren Houliston and Jacob McDonald with 14 points apiece.
