Wildcats fall by 12 to UTD

PINEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana College men, currently in third place in the American Southwest Conference East Division, could not close the gap between themselves and division-leading Texas Dallas on Saturday. The Comets led from start to finish and downed LC 56-44.

The Wildcats (5-9, 5-7 ASC) struggled from the field shooting just 30 percent on the day and 12 percent from three-point range.

Texas Dallas (14-4, 10-4 ASC) was better in both categories, shooting 38 percent from the field and 31 percent from three-point range. The Comets also out-rebounded LC 43-35 including 28-23 on the offensive glass.

Louisiana College had just one player, senior wing Jarrod Jackson, to reach double figures on the night. Jackson (Albany, La./Albany HS) accounted for 11 points and five rebounds on the night.

Texas Dallas was led by a pair of double-doubles, 12 points and 11 rebounds from Kyle Schleigh and 11 points and 13 rebounds from Carter Nash, as well as 10 points from reigning ASC East player of the year Chris Barnes.

LC returns to action on Thursday with a visit to ASC East opponent Texas-Tyler.
