PINEVILLE, La. - The Louisiana College men's soccer team's early season play has been marked by close games and thrilling conclusions. Saturday's non-conference match versus Hendrix was no different, though a 2-1 loss in overtime was the Wildcats' fate for the day.
LC trailed 1-0 with less than a minute to play in regulation after Hendrix's Connor Silvestri connected on a penalty kick.
However, with 21 second to play in the contest, freshman striker
Colby Rainwater scored a goal off a corner kick delivered by
Edwin Morales to force the extra session.
The Wildcats played gallantly in overtime but Hendrix's Duncan Keegan scored off an assist from Grant Womack with just two seconds to play in the first of what would have been two 10-minute overtimes to end the game with a "golden goal."
With the loss Lc falls to 1-2.
The Wildcats return to action Thursday at 3 p.m. when they host Ozarks in what will be the conference opener for both squads.
