PINEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana College softball team rebounded nicely from a disappointing sweep at Mississippi College Tuesday night posting wins of 3-1 and 3-2 over Texas Dallas in American Southwest Conference East Division play Saturday afternoon.

LC (28-6, 15-5 ASC East) won the second game in extra innings with a walk-off RBI by Amber Thomas (Rosepine, La./Rosepine HS) with one out in the bottom of the ninth that scored Brittany Menard (Baton Rouge, La./Parkview Baptist), who had reached on a leadoff single, from third.

It was enough to give Kelly Williams (West Monroe, La./St. Thomas More HS), who pitched the last 6 1/3 innings in relief of senior Rene' Schwartzenburg (Marksville, La./Marksville HS, her eight win of the season compared to four losses.

Menard was one of several LC batters to come through in a big way in the second game. The sophomore centerfielder not only scored the game-winning run, she also jumpstarted LC's offense with an inside-the-park home run in bottom of the third, an inning LC entered trailing 2-0.

Menard finished the second game 2-for-5.

The game-tying RBI in the second contest came in the form of a double by sophomore Danielle Boudreaux (Lafayette, La./Acadiana HS) in the sixth that scored Carli Wheeler (Baton Rouge, La./Parkview Baptist).

Wheeler was the top batter in Game 1, going 1-for-2 with a solo home run.

In Game 2, LC's best bats were Emily Douglas (Gonzales, La./St. Amant HS/Nicholls State), with a 4-for-5 showing, and Devan Greene (Kaplan, La./Kaplan HS), with a 3-for-3 showing.

Schwartzenburg (16-2) was the winning pitcher in the first game, working all seven innings and striking out seven.

Heather Foust (8-9) was the losing pitcher in both contests having pitched all 16 innings on the day.

LC returns to action next Saturday at 1 p.m. with a home doubleheader against ASC East foe Texas-Tyler. This will be the last home appearance of the year for the Lady Cats and will be Senior Day.
