FARMERS BRANCH, Texas - It took just five innings for the LC softball team to conclude its first day of action at the two-day American Southwest Conference First Pitch Tournament. Louisiana College, currently ranked No. 3 in the nation, blasted TLU 9-0 to improve to 6-0 on the season.
Kelly Williams (West Monroe, La./St. Thomas More) improved to 3-0 on the season after pitching all five innings, striking out four, walking no one and allowing five hits.
Five Lady Wildcats had solid showings at the plate.
Carli Wheeler (Baton Rouge, La./Parkview HS) went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two batted in.
Devan Greene (Kaplan, La./Kaplan HS) went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and an RBI while
Kelsey Brown (Rayne, La./Notre Dame-Crowley/Hinds CC) went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and
Brittany Menard (Baton Rouge, La./Parkview) went 1-for-2 with two runs scored and two driven in.
Stephanie Jaeger (Haughton, La./Haughton HS) went 1-for-1 with two RBI.
LC returns to action Saturday with two games in the First Pitch Tournament. The Lady Wildcats will first face Hardin-Simmons at 10 a.m. They will conclude the tournament at 3 p.m. with a game against Howard Payne.
