LC men lose heartbreaker to UTT

PINEVILLE, La. – The Wildcats lost a heartbreaker in their season finale here Tuesday night, dropping an 81-78 decision to the Texas-Tyler Patriots in American Southwest Conference play.

LC twice rallied from 12-or-more points down in the contest, even managing erase a 14-point first-half deficit to take a 37-36 lead in the locker room.

Unfortunately for the Wildcats (10-10, 9-7 ASC), the Patriots (9-12, 8-8 ASC) put up 45 to LC's 41 in the second period.

Louisiana College was paced by 19 points from Chukwuma Ekeh, the lone senior on the 2010-11 squad.
Korey Slamon put up 18, JeLani Mitchell 12 and Danny Sumner 10 in the losing effort.

Texas-Tyler was led by the trio of Brandon Levine, Lance Murphy and Larry Carpenter.

Levine scored a game-high 23 while Murphy put up 18 and Carpenter 10, including a clutch runner in the waning moment of regulation.

Though the home campaing has ended for the Wildcats, there remain four games in the regular season and LC will begin its stretch run with visits to Ozarks on Thursday night and Texas Dallas on Saturday.
