Box Score
CLINTON, Miss. - The Wildcats came close, very close, but will not be participating in this year's American Southwest Conference Men's Basketball Tournament in Dallas, this following a 74-66 loss to the Mississippi College in the regular-season finale for both teams and what was a battle for the fourth and final East Division seed in the ASC Tournament.
With the loss, LC fell to 11-13 overall and 10-10 in conference play. Mississippi College improved to 13-12 overall and 10-10 in conference.
The Wildcats actually beat MC earlier in the year but lost out on the ASC tournament based on the common opponent tiebreaker, which is used if two teams split in head-to-head competition as the Choctaws and LC did this season.
Specifically, the Wildcats lost out based on the fact that Mississippi College defeated Texas Dallas, the first-place team in the ASC East. LC went 0-2 against that squad.
The Wildcats would have stamped their ticket to the ASC Tournament with a win, and were within 61-58 of the lead with five minutes to play, but could never completely overtake the Choctaws.
