Wildcats come up short against ETBU

Box Score
MARSHALL, Texas – The Wildcats were unable to give themselves any cushion in the hunt for the American Southwest Conference Tournament here Thursday night, falling 65-50 to East Texas Baptist.

The loss means that LC (11-12, 10-9 ASC) and Mississippi College's season-closing contest on Monday night will be a de facto play-in for the ASC tournament.
A win on Monday would guarantee the Wildcats a berth in the conference tournament.

The Choctaws, currently holding a 9-9 conference record with two games to play, could knock the Wildcats, who've held third place in the ASC East for much of the season, to fifth in the division and out of the tournament based on a tiebreaker if Texas-Tyler, 10-9 in conference and a team LC lost twice to, is victorious over Ozarks on Saturday.

The all-important final play date for LC will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Monday in Clinton, Miss.

On Thursday, the Wildcats were an unlucky bunch, shooting just 25 percent from the field and 17 percent from three-point range.

ETBU, which secured second place in the ASC East with the win, shot 40 percent from the field and 25 percent from three-point range, not exceptional, but enough to outduel Louisiana College.

Korey Salmon, LC's 6-foot-9 post, was the only Wildcat to reach double figures in the game, putting up 12.

The Tigers were led by the 15 points of Josh Chambers as well as 14 points from Anacoco, La., native
Jacob Turnipseed.
