BELTON, Texas – The Louisiana College men's basketball team dropped a decision to the No. 12 team in the country on Saturday, falling to Mary Hardin-Baylor 84-71 in American Southwest Conference play.
LC (4-3, 4-2 ASC) shot 44 percent from the field in the contest but fell victim to a 60-percent showing from UMHB (8-0, 6-0 ASC) in the second half, one in which the Cru outscored the Wildcats 51-40.
Four Wildcats reached double figures in scorings.
Senior wing
Jarrod Jackson (Albany, La./Albany HS), the reigning ASC East Division Player of the Week, scored a team high 18 with junior wing
Phillip George (Baton Rouge, La./Family Christian) adding 12 and the low-post combination of senior
Korey Salmon (Deville, La./Buckeye HS) and
Derrick Gardner (St. Martinville, La./St. Martinville HS) 10 apiece.
Mary Hardin-Baylor's Marlon Miller scored 34 points to lead the Cru.
Louisiana College returns to action Monday with a visit to ASC opponent Concordia in Austin, Texas. This will be the Wildcats' final game prior to the Christmas break.
