KERRVILLE, Texas – Opening the regular season and American Southwest Conference play on the same day and on the road seems to have agreed with the Louisiana College men's basketball team. The Wildcats started their 2011-12 season in style, notching a 95-90 win over Schreiner.
Louisiana College (1-0, 1-0 ASC) enjoyed a 49-39 lead at the half and, despite 51 second-half points by the Mountaineers, were able to hold on for the win.
While the top two scorers in the game wore Schreiner jerseys, Travis Pflughaupt with 27 and Darren Smith with 21, it was a balanced attack by the Wildcats that proved the difference.
Six LC men scored eight or more points, five in double figures.

Derrick Gardner (St. Martinville, La./St. Martinville HS) went for 17 and pulled down nine rebounds.
