Box Score
ABILENE, Texas – Louisiana College's 2011 campaign ended in disappointment Saturday with the Wildcats falling 41-27 to the Hardin-Simmons Cowboys.

LC, with an overall record of 7-3 and American Southwest Conference mark of 5-3, finished third in conference, ahead of the team that defeated them on Saturday. HSU finished with a record of 6-4 overall and 4-4 in conference.

It was the fourth straight year in which Louisiana College finished with a record of 7-3, the best four-year stretch in school history.

Saturday, the Wildcats were unable to move the ball with consistency. While the Wildcats, the top-rated offense in the ASC,
managed 370 total offensive yards, three interceptions and a lost fumbles cost Louisiana College several scoring opportunities.

Hardin-Simmons had identical turnover statistics and managed less yards, 320, but the location of the Wildcat turnovers were far less advantageous.

The Cowboys also did a better job controlling the line of scrimmage, outrushing LC 237 yards to 76. HSU senior running back Steven Rockwell accounted for 166 yards of the Cowboys' total  and scored four touchdowns on 32 carries.

Louisiana College was more potent through the air, with 294 passing yards to Hardin-Simmons' 83.

Wildcat senior wide receiver Darnell Williams (Gulfport, Miss./Winter Park HS), who last week set the school single-game receiving yards record with 244, was good for 141 yards and two touchdowns on eight receptions.

Williams also completed a 45-yard pass to fellow receiver D'Mario Parker (Shreveport, La./Huntington HS). Parker finished with 75 yards on seven receptions.

LC quarterback Jamie Bunting went 24-for-38 passing for 249 yards and two touchdowns. He was intercepted three times.

Defensively, Louisiana College was led by linebackers Taylor Cottano (New Roads, La./Catholic-Pointe Coupee) and Nate Janzen (Pottsboro, Texas/Pottsboro HS).

Cottano, a senior, made 15 tackles and had the Wildcats' only sack. Janzen made a game-high 16 tackles.
