PINEVILLE, La. – The Lady Cats fell behind early and never recovered in a 5-0 home loss to American Southwest Conference opponent Howard Payne Saturday.

Howard Payne kept the pressure on throughout the match, finishing with 28 shots (22 on goal).

Junior keeper Emily Breaux was good for 17 saves but two goals from Leslie Jones and one apiece from Shannon Costello, Lauren Hankins-Hatch and Kerrie Ford got to the back of the LC net.

The Lady Cats got off three shots, two on goal, two from freshman Sarah Smith and one from senior Stephanie Baer but HPU keepers Adrienne Walker and Kaitlyn Kelm were game for the requisite saves.

The match wrapped a two-game home stand for LC, which will next take to the road for a pair of conference contests, a Friday meeting with Schreiner and Saturday match against Texas Lutheran.
