BROWNWOOD, Texas – No. 21 Louisiana College scored 35 first-half points and never looked back en route to a 42-14 win over Howard Payne.
The Wildcats, 5-1 on the year and 3-1 in American Southwest Conference play, produced 510 yards of total offense while holding the Yellow Jackets (1-6, 1-4 ASC) to just 195 total yards.
Defensively, it was a true team effort for the Wildcats, who made 13 tackles for loss and five sacks to go along with a pair of forced fumbles.
While big plays were plentiful, no one on the LC defense made more than five tackles and only one player, sophomore defensive end
Terrance Bratten (Shreveport, La./Evangel Christian Academy) with 1.5, had more than one sack.

Nate Janzen (Pottsboro, Texas/Pottsboro HS) were the only player with more than one tackle for loss.
On offense, the Wildcats were just as varied.

Jamie Bunting (Alexandria, La./Alexandria Senior High) had one of his best outings of the year, completing 22-of-30 passes for 298 yards and three touchdowns with one interception.

Tim Curry (Shreveport, La./UTEP) to complete passes to 12 different receivers.
Senior wide receivers
Darnell Williams (Gulfport, Miss./Winter Park HS) and
D'Mario Parker (Shreveport, La./Northwestern State) were both solid with Williams catching five passes for 64 yards and a 15-yard touchdown and Parker four passes for 74 yards and a 49-yard touchdown.
Running back
Ryan Montague (New Orleans, La./St. Augustine) rushed for 84 yards and two scores on 10 carries and caught two passes for 59 yards, one of which was a 50-yard touchdown.
Howard Payne scored twice in the game.
The first touchdown, a seven-yard run by Rick Henderson, tied the game at 7-7 in the first quarter. LC would score another touchdown in the first quarter then score 21 in the second and seven in the third to put the game out of reach.
Next up for LC will be a 4:30 p.m. home game against American Southwest Conference opponent Sul Ross State next Saturday. It will be the Wildcats' Homecoming contest.
