CLARKSVILLE, Ark. - The Lady Wildcats got a little jolt of momentum Thursday night, playing their best defensive game of the year en route to a 0-0 tie with Ozarks in their American Southwest Conference opener.

The Lady Wildcats (0-5-1), who had struggled to get shots on goal early in the year, managed six shots on goal in this contest, five from sophomore co-captain Martha Means (Pineville, La./Pineville HS) and one from junior Julie McKay (Brookhaven, Miss./Homeschool/Copiah-Lincoln CC).

Sophomore goalie Emily Breaux (Latayette, La./Lafayette HS) and the LC defense did their jobs, warding off all 26 of Ozarks' shots. Breaux, who is averaging 12.1 saves per game this season, was good for 14 stops on the night.

Ozarks keeper Morgan O'Neil was good for six saves on the evening.

In the men's contest, the WIldcats fell to 0-5 on the year after a 5-0 loss to Ozarks.

Ozarks fired off 23 shots on goal on the evening but freshman goalie Filip Linder (Umea, Sweden/Dragonskolan), who is averaging 12.5 saves per game, made 18 saves for LC.

Unfortunately, the Eagles, led by a pair of goals by Francisco Garcia, found the back of the net five times.

Next up for both the LC men and women will be a visit to the University of Texas Dallas on Saturday. The Lady Wildcats will play at 2 p.m. and the men at 4 p.m.
