Box Score
BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Louisiana College men dug themselves a hole they could not quite scrap their way out of here Thursday night in an 83-76 American Southwest Conference loss to Howard Payne.

The Wildcats (2-4, 1-2 ASC) shot just 27 percent from the field and 15 percent from three-point range in the first half and trailed the Yellow Jackets (3-4, 2-1 ASC) 48-26 at the half.

LC would rebound to outscored Howard Payne 50-35 in the second half but come up seven points short of the road win.

The loss overshadowed what was otherwise a marvelous performance by the Wildcats, whose starters each reached double figures in scoring.

Junior win Jarrod Jackson led the way with 22 points to go along with six boards, two assists and a pair of steals while junior point guard JeLani Mitchell put up 14 points, snagged six rebounds dished out three assists and made two steals.

Junior Korey Salmon had his best outing of the year with a 12-point, 12-rebound double-double while senior post Chukwuma Ekeh was good for 11 points and four rebounds and sophomore wing Phillip George 12 points and four boards.

Howard Payne was paced by an 18-point, 12-rebound double-double by Brandon Irwin, one of four Yellow Jackets to reach double-figure scoring along with Donovan Gardner (14), Quinton Calloway (12) and Joshua Dada (13).

Next up for LC is a 2 p.m. Saturday visit to ASC opponent Sul Ross State in Alpine, Texas.
