PINEVILLE - Sophomore goalie
Emily Breaux (Lafayette, La./Lafayette HS) hasn't just broken the old single-season saves mark in the American Southwest Conference, she's obliterated it.
The old mark of 248, set by LeTourneau's Emily O'Brien in 1998, has been supplanted by Breaux's 306 saves and counting following a 23-save performance in LC's 8-0 loss to Texas-Tyler on Thursday night.
Breaux faced 31 shots on goal in the contest and turned away 13 shots in the first half and 10 in the second.
Unfortunately, three goals by the Patriots Kendall Kramer, two from Courtney Crowson and one apiece from Hannah Parcel, Emily Bechdol and Lindsey Edwards proved to be the downfall of the Lady Wildcats on this night.
The LC men didn't fair much better, falling 6-0 to the Texas-Tyler men after two goals by Elijah Shipman and one goal apiece from Troy Coffee, Justin Nesmith, Victor Almendariz and James Winkler.
WIldcats goalie Filip Linder, himself the owner of 176 saves on the year, had a 20-save performance.
Both the LC men and women will wrap their 2010 seasons this Saturday at 3 and 5 p.m. when they host Concordia in a Senior Day doubleheader at Wildcat Stadium.
