BEAUMONT, Texas -- The Louisiana College men's basketball team played up on Wednesday, taking on NCAA Division I opponent Lamar. After a hard-fought game, though, the Wildcats fell to the larger Cardinals 79-64.
The Wildcats were within four points of the lead at the half, trailing just 39-35, but were unable to overcome Lamar, which was paced by Justin Nabors, who had a amazing 16-point, 24-rebound double-double.
Also reaching double figures for Lamar were Kendrick Harris (18) and Anthony Miles (13).
LC, which fell to 4-3 on the year, had four players reach double-figures on the night, most notably Korey Salmon, a sophomore post player who put up 17 points and snagged 10 rebounds.
Junior post Chukwuma Ekeh was good for 12 points and six assists while Jarrod Jackson and Jelani Mitchell added 15 and 11 points respectively.
The Wildcats, who will now go on break for final exams, will not return to action until Dec. 17 at 7 p.m. with a home contest against Sul Ross.
