LC men log first conference win

PINEVILLE – The LC men's basketball team had its best showing of the young season here Monday night, defeating Hardin-Simmons 82-75 and notching its first American Southwest Conference win.
The Wildcats (2-2, 1-1 in ASC), who posted a season high in points, had fallen by four to McMurry Saturday night in the conference opener for both teams but rebounded for the win against the Cowboys.
LC overcame 18 turnovers in the game thanks in large part to eh play of guard Jarrod Jackson, who put up a game high 19 points, pulled down six rebounds and dished out three assists.
The low-post duo of Korey Salmon and Chukwuma Ekeh scored 11 points apiece in the win while three LC guards, Jelani Mitchell, Daniel Greenhouse and Jeremy Hollier, scored nine apiece.
Mitchell, along with Troy Folse, led the Wildcats in assists with four apiece.
Hardin-Simmons was led in scoring by John Derr (17) and Aaron Thornton (15).
Next up for Louisiana College is a Saturday road trip to Seguin, Texas, and a road showdown with conference foe Texas Lutheran.
