Ragin’ Cajuns pull away from LC men in second half

LAFAYETTE – The Wildcats made a game of it for the entire first half and a portion of the second, but superior numbers and experience proved the deciding factor in favor of Louisiana-Lafayette in a 90-68 victory for the Ragin' Cajuns.
In what was an exhibition game for Louisiana College (the game did count toward ULL's win-loss record), the visiting Wildcats played over their heads for the first 20 minutes.
Although the Wildcats never led in the contest, they were never out of the game in the first half, a period in which the Wildcats were tied with the Ragin' Cajuns a 36-36 within the last 1:30 and trailed 42-39 at the break.
In the second half, however, Louisiana-Lafayette, which utilized 15 different players, pulled away.
Of the 15 men who logged minutes for the Ragin' Cajuns, 10 scored and six were in double figures: Tyren Johnson (18), Chris Gradnigo (11), Travis Bureau (10), Ryan McCoy (10), Randell Daigle (19), and Courtney Wallace (10).
The Wildcats' found their offense in the form of the shooting of Jarrod Jackson, who scored a game-high 21, as well as Jelani Mithchell, who added 15. Korey Salmon and Chukwuma Ekeh added eight points apiece.
