Reni Mason was named Louisiana College head men's basketball coach in May of 2015. During the summer of 2017, he added the title of athletic director to his mantle.

As the head coach of the Wildcats men's team, he found immediate success in the 2015-16 season, leading the Wildcats to the championship game of the American Southwest Conference Tournament. In 2018-19, Mason guided the Wildcats to a 19-7 overall record, getting LC to the brink of the 20-win milestone,  which the men's basketball team hadn't reached in a decade-plus. Under Mason's guide, the Wildcats have qualified for the conference tournament in three of his five seasons.

Since taking over the role of athletic director, the focus on academics has been obvious, with the cumulative GPA of all Wildcat student-athletes rising from a 2.7 at the end of the 2015-2016 academic year to a 3.0 following 2019-20. His tenure has also brought several improvements, including more chances for female student-athletes with the addition of the Louisiana College volleyball team, and new turf at Wildcat Field for the first time since the stadium was built. He is now heading up Louisiana College's attempted transition from NCAA Division III to NAIA for the start of the 2021-22 seasons, which will include the introduction of athletic scholarships for student-athletes should the move be confirmed.

Mason came to Louisiana College from Evangel Christian Academy in Shreveport, where he was the head coach of the very successful Eagles boys basketball team, amassing a 154-53 record in seven seasons at the helm of ECA and three district championships. He was also a three-time district coach of the year.

Prior to his time at ECA, Mason was the general manager and assistant coach of the USBL's Dodge City Legends. He also served on the staffs at the University of New Orleans and University of Minnesota - Morris, working with highly regarded coaches like Dale Osbourne, Tic Price, and Tim Floyd.

Mason played collegiately at two NCAA Division I programs, Louisiana Tech and the University of New Orleans, the latter of which is where he received his Bachelor's Degree in general studies.
