CONWAY, Ark. – The Louisiana Christian University men's soccer team saw a second half goal doom its hopes of winning a third-straight match, falling to the Central Baptist Mustangs 1-0 Saturday night at the Conway Soccer Complex.
Offensive opportunities were tough to come by, though Louisiana Christian (2-4) had a 3-2 edge in shots at halftime.
But it was Central Baptist (3-1-2) which finally found the breakthrough goal in the 65
th minute, which would be the only time the ball found the back of the net.
Juan Sierra took four shots in the match, putting three on target.
Manuel Sosa-Villaseñor made two attempts at goal, putting one on frame.
As a team, LCU took seven total shots with five on target.
Ricardo Gross (2-4) played all 90 minutes in net for LCU in the contest. He was credited with three saves and the one goal allowed. The Mustangs sent five shots at the LCU net in the contest, four on target.
The Wildcats start a four-match homestand on Tuesday when former Red River Athletic Conference member Jarvis Christian comes to Pineville. Kickoff of Tuesday's contest against the Bulldogs (2-3) is set for 7 p.m. at Wildcat Field.
