WACO, Texas – The #18/#15 Louisiana Christian University women's tennis team picked up its first weekly award of the 2026 season as the Red River Athletic Conference named Raquel Coelho Rofdrigues its Women's Tennis Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.
 
Coelho Rodrigues, a senior from Viana do Castelo, Portugal, picked up a pair of key wins as #18/#15 Louisiana Christian defeated the Dillard Bleu Devils on Friday. In doubles, she paired up with Valeria Callejo in the number two doubles to pick up a 7-5 win which secured the doubles points for the Wildcats.
 
She then went into her singles match on court two and took down her opponent from Dillard by a 6-0, 6-4 score which gave LCU a 3-1 lead at the time. Soon after, the Wildcats scored the final point to clinch the overall victory.
 
This is Coelho Rodrigues's first career RRAC Player of the Week award and the first for LCU this season.
 
The #18/#15 Wildcats (4-3, 1-0 RRAC) return to conference action on Thursday, taking on Our Lady of the Lake. Opening serve of the match against the Saints (3-1, 0-0 RRAC) is set for 1 p.m. in New Orleans at the Dillard Tennis Courts.
