Wildcats Suffer Season-Ending Defeat at UNT-Dallas

LCU's Season Ends with a 7-21 Overall Record, 5-17 in RRAC

CEDAR HILL, Texas – The Louisiana Christian University men's basketball team was within striking distance with five minutes left, but a late run by the North Texas-Dallas Trailblazers ended any hope of a victory to end the season as the Wildcats fell 82-62 Saturday evening at the Trinity Leadership Public School Gymnasium.

The loss dropped Louisiana Christian to a final record of 7-21 overall and 5-17 in Red River Athletic Conference play, failing to qualify for the upcoming RRAC Championship Tournament. UNT-Dallas (11-15, 10-12 RRAC) will be the six-seed in the tournament and travel to the three-seed, Texas A&M-Texarkana (19-9, 15-7 RRAC) in the quarterfinal round.

LCU was within one as a Bryce Weinmunson three-pointer made it 48-47 UNTD with 11 minutes left in the game. The Trailblazers answered that with a 12-3 run to get their advantage back out to double digits at 60-50.

But the Wildcats battled back, getting the deficit down to six points at 62-56 as Drew Tebbe connected from the elbow with five minutes left.

However, that's where UNTD went on the run that put the game away, outscoring LCU 20-4 to take their largest lead of the contest at 82-60 with just less than a minute remaining before a lay-up by Tebbe accounted for the game's final points.

Weinmunson led the Wildcats with 20 points on the day while also grabbing three rebounds and getting a steal.

Tebbe scored 15 points while dishing out six assists, grabbing four rebounds, and getting a pair of steals.

Justice Kelly ended the game just one rebound shy of a double-double, ending the season with an 11-point, nine-rebound performance. He also blocked two shots and got an assist.
