PINEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana Christian University women's basketball team battled back from an early double-digit deficit to get back within striking distance heading into the second half, but couldn't keep contact with Texas A&M-San Antonio over the final 20 minutes, falling 94-66 to the Jaguars Saturday afternoon on Gene Rushing Court at H.O. West Fieldhouse.

Carlea Owens lay-up with 6:30 to go started a 25-9 Wildcat run to cut the deficit down to three points, 41-38, after
Amiyah Simpkins hit a pair of free throws with just seconds left before halftime. A pair of Jaguar free throws right before the break made it a five-point game at the break.
However, the second half belonged to Texas A&M-San Antonio (19-7, 16-4 RRAC) as the Jaguars outscored the Wildcats 31-12 in the third quarter and never let up.
Kylei Leblanc led the way for the Wildcats with 20 points, getting 12 at the free throw line as she was 12-of-14 at the stripe. She also grabbed six rebounds, had a pair of assists, and came up with a steal.
Simpkins got 11 points, six of those also at the stripe as she hit all six of her free throw attempts in the afternoon. She also secured four rebounds.
Owens picked up her fifth double-double of the season by scoring 10 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.
With the home portion of the 2025-26 schedule complete, the Wildcats now head out on the road for the final two games of the season. The final trip of the season starts Thursday out in Hobbs, N.M. to take on the University of the Southwest. Tip-off of Thursday's contest against the Mustangs (7-19, 3-17 RRAC) is set for 5:30 p.m. MST/6:30 p.m. CST at the Jack & Mabel Maddox Student Life Center.
