FRISCO, Texas – The Louisiana Christian University women's soccer team earned another weekly award with
Marta Papandrea saving her way to the Red River Athletic Conference's Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
Papandrea, a senior goalkeeper from Venice, Italy, made six saves as Louisiana Christian held off a late, furious rally by Texas A&M-San Antonio on Saturday. Up a goal and with LCU shorthanded following a red card with six minutes remaining in the match, Papandrea was able to guide the defense to keep the Jaguars from finding the equalizer as the Wildcats held on for a 2-1 road win.
This is Papandrea's first career RRAC weekly award.
Papandrea and the rest of the Wildcats (6-3-1, 3-1 RRAC) look to start a new win streak on Saturday as they head across the Red River to Alexandria to take on LSU Alexandria in the Red River Rivalry match. Kickoff of Saturday's match against the Generals (9-3-1, 4-0 RRAC) is set for 1 p.m. at the Generals Soccer Field.
