LAFAYETTE, La. – The #18/#15 Louisiana Christian University women's tennis team opened its season by stepping up in competition, dropping a 4-0 decision to NCAA Division I Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns Thursday morning on the Cajun Courts.
In doubles action,
Elizaveta Mikhailova and Ana Sofia Martinez battled but dropped their match 6-1 on court two. On court one, Raquel Rodrigues and
Valeria Callejo fought but dropped a 6-3 decision to give the Cajuns the doubles point.
Moving to singles action, Rodrigues battled but fell 6-0, 6-2. Martinez fought on court four but dropped a 6-0, 6-1 decision. On court three, Callego fell 6-1, 6-0 to give UL-Lafayette the decisive point, bringing the match to an end.
After a week off, the #18/#15 Wildcats (0-1) return to action with an exhibition match against Copiah-Lincoln Community College. Opening serve against the Wolves (0-0) is set for 12 p.m. in Wesson, Miss. at the Co-Lin Tennis Courts.
